Nicaragua is a poor country with the third lowest per capita income in the Western Hemisphere. Much of the population lives in poverty, and many people earn less than one dollar (U.S.) per day. Up to 40% of children are not schooled beyond second grade. Nicaragua is very religious, yet many people have never heard of the liberating power of Jesus Christ. We will be traveling to a hard-to-reach, heavily-jungled region in Nicaragua’s back country. This is our hardest trip – no hotels, no paved roads and no creature comforts. By request of the National office of the Assemblies of God, we have been asked to go where most others will not. This is by far our most difficult trip: excellent health and a positive attitude is a must for all team members. Sun City teams will work with missionaries to strengthen the community and the church.
