AGWM Internship
The AGWM Internship
programs aims to give would be missionaries more on-site experience to
minimize the transition time when they first get on the field. Every intern
will spend two weeks at AGWM headquarters being introduced to how AGWM
facilitates missions and the multiple ministries available that focus on
missions and missionary services. Most of AGWM’s mission’s ministry teams
will be presenting their specific ministry in a hands-on way. For example;
Convoy of Hope will be performing a mock disaster for the Interns to work
through. Interns will also be introduced to Emotional Intelligence (EQ),
Body Language, Team Building and Ethnography through inter-active study and
not just lecture.
After the two week stay at
AGWM headquarters the intern will then go overseas and shadow a missionary
currently on the field much like a person in the medical field would shadow
a doctor so that they can see the real world of medicine. During the 8 to 10
week stay with the missionary the intern will be performing a culture study
and observing body language which the intern will learn to do in the two
week session at AGWM. All interns will be required to spend a few nights or
a week or more at a national’s home in doing this they will be able to under
stand the culture in which they are visiting more in-depth. Since we have
been working with our AGWM colleges most of our interns will be receiving
college credit and we will be working with the intern’s college to make sure
that they meet the requirements of their mission’s class. All Interns will
receive a journal in which they will be required to use every day throughout
the process. For those who are getting college credit this will serve as a
vehicle to either write a paper on how to reach the culture that you have
visited, or to supply an ingrained sense of their experience on the field.
In all cases Interns are instructed to write in their journal for public
viewing since their professors and other interns will want to know how their
time was spent on the field.
